Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Designer / Senior Mechanical Designer to join our PDG in Gurugram on a fixed-term 12-month contract. This role plays a pivotal part in producing mechanical equipment layouts, models, and drawings aligned with project requirements under the guidance of the Lead Mechanical Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Create mechanical equipment layouts, 3D models, and 2D drawings as per project specifications.
- Apply thorough knowledge of project-specific mechanical component/system design and plant processes.
- Interpret owner/user requirements and understand project objectives.
- Analyze plant Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and plant boundaries.
- Coordinate draftsperson teams in producing contract drawings and maintain records.
- Conduct conceptual layouts and verify drawings before release.
- Develop detailed designs of standard mechanical elements.
- Perform clash detection with other disciplines’ models and ensure compliance using vendor data.
- Prepare material quantity takeoffs for cost estimation and procurement.
- Participate in operability and maintainability reviews; familiarity with HAZOP processes is advantageous.
Candidate Requirements
- Engineering diploma, degree, or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
- Extensive experience ranging from 5 to 20 years.
- Proficiency in Bentley OpenPlant is preferred; exposure to similar 3D design software is mandatory.
- Experience in large-scale, multi-disciplinary EPC/EPCM projects.
- Strong skills in detailed mechanical plant layout design and modeling.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- For senior roles, ability to lead small teams and oversee their work.
- Understanding of inter-disciplinary interfaces and requirements.
- Effective communication and interpersonal capabilities.
