Role Overview
The Mechanical Design Manager will oversee the entire product design process, from analyzing requirements through conceptualization, detailed engineering, validation, and final production documentation. This role involves ensuring the mechanical and ultrasonic cleaning system designs meet rigorous performance, manufacturability, reliability, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design lifecycle including requirement analysis, concept development, detailed CAD modeling using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, creation of assemblies, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and validation.
- Ensure robust design of components such as tanks, chambers, piping, jigs, fixtures, and integration of electrical and instrumentation systems focused on ultrasonic cleaning and surface treatment.
- Maintain a repository of standard designs and modular sub-assemblies to optimize reusability and accelerate development.
- Implement design for manufacturability and assembly principles, conducting design reviews with interdisciplinary teams.
- Establish and uphold design standards, streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and manage document control and revision processes.
- Collaborate closely with sales, project execution, production, quality control, and procurement teams to align designs with customer needs, manufacturability, compliance, and vendor optimization.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the design engineering team, assign work, monitor progress, and conduct performance evaluations to foster continuous skill enhancement and a culture of engineering excellence.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through design improvements, apply Kaizen and root cause analysis, benchmark products globally, and drive innovation in product development and system architecture.
Essential Qualifications and Expertise
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Mechatronics.
- Proficient in SolidWorks (mandatory) and AutoCAD.
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanical and structural design, sheet metal fabrication.
- Working knowledge of ultrasonic technology, pumping systems, filtration, piping, PLC and electrical integration, and heat transfer concepts.
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
- Between 5 to 12 years of design engineering experience, with at least 2 to 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong project management skills and excellent communication abilities.
