The Role

This is an exceptional chance to lead and shape talent acquisition at New Zealand's central bank, Te Pūtea Matua. As the Manager Talent, you will head the team responsible for attracting, sourcing, selecting, and recruiting talent across the organisation. Beyond overseeing recruitment operations, you'll define how the organisation attracts, engages, and evolves its workforce to fulfil its mission for New Zealand.

You will design and implement an organisation-wide talent strategy combining workforce planning, talent pipelines, candidate experience, and future skills requirements into an integrated, forward-thinking programme. Partnering closely with leaders, you will provide strategic guidance, challenge existing methods, and seek innovative approaches to cultivating a sustainable talent advantage.

Leading early career initiatives such as scholarships, internships, and graduate programmes will be a central part of your role. This offers a meaningful impact on creating diverse talent pipelines that will underpin the Reserve Bank’s future capability.

You will champion continuous enhancements in recruitment and talent practices to ensure innovation, inclusivity, efficiency, and excellent outcomes for candidates, hiring managers, and the organisation. Leading a high-performing team, you'll foster collaboration, curiosity, and excellence, supporting the broader People and Culture mission.

About You

  • Extensive leadership experience in Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Workforce Planning, or related People and Culture areas.
  • Proven success in developing and delivering talent strategies, candidate attraction initiatives, and innovative sourcing methods that create lasting organisational value.
  • Strong commitment to Early Careers and creating pioneering pathways for emerging workforce talent.
  • Sound commercial and strategic thinking capabilities to convert complex challenges into practical, actionable solutions.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills, able to influence, build trust, and collaborate broadly.
  • Excellent communication, inspiring and engaging others to align with your vision.
  • An inclusive leadership approach emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of or a genuine dedication to understanding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori in the workplace.
