Overview
The Manager - Business Development will be responsible for formulating and executing the business development strategy to meet both financial and non-financial objectives. This role focuses on expanding current opportunities, fostering new ventures, and enhancing revenue streams within the Ports Unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee strategic and major opportunities aimed at creating economic and commercial value by developing new port businesses and expanding existing port and enabling services.
- Generate and pursue business leads to fulfill the strategic goals of the Ports Cluster.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend potential alliances or joint ventures.
- Serve as the primary contact for drafting commercial contracts related to ports and port facilities.
- Collaborate with other divisions within AD Ports Group to provide integrated cross-cluster solutions.
- Convert business objectives and budgets into executable plans and measurable actions.
- Initiate development of commercial and business models for approval of new business opportunities.
- Contribute to strategic procurement activities for the Ports Cluster.
- Focus on expanding offshore, ship repair, and petrochemical sectors within the Ports Cluster.
- Leadership responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership and supervision to the team, establishing expectations and cultivating accountability.
- Coach and mentor team members to build their skills and problem-solving capabilities.
- Encourage collaboration and teamwork to maximize team potential.
- Strategic duties:
- Ensure projects align with the strategic direction of the Ports Cluster.
- Participate in developing overall commercial and business development strategies aligned with group objectives.
- Advise leadership on business opportunities, market trends, and best practices.
- Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of business development initiatives.
- Translate cluster strategies into concrete action plans.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain, or related areas; Master's degree preferred.
- Excellent command of English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
- At least 8 to 10 years in a comparable business development role.
- Experience preferably from port business development, 3PL/4PL supply chain companies, or supply chain consulting firms.
- Strong strategic understanding with the ability to maintain an overall organizational perspective.
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
- Excellent analytical and research skills.
- Superior organizational abilities; comfortable managing complex and ambiguous situations with attention to detail and the big picture.
- Proven project management experience overseeing initiatives from planning through implementation.
- Robust problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities to navigate complicated challenges and make data-driven decisions.
