Maintenance Operative

About the Role

Join Cygnet Acer Clinic as a Maintenance Operative dedicated to supporting the safe and healthy environment essential for the care of women with complex mental health needs. This full-time position (40 hours per week) is based at the Chesterfield location, within a 28-bed facility that specializes in assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for women facing personality disorders and acute mental health challenges. The therapeutic setting provides varying levels of security tailored to individual requirements, aiming to facilitate patient progress towards less restrictive environments or reintegration into the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver thorough maintenance and repair services across the clinic.
• Perform general building tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, and painting.
• Upkeep equipment, facility services, and vehicles in proper working condition.
• Adhere strictly to safe work procedures, reporting any faulty equipment or hazards.
• Travel to different sites when required, and occasionally respond to emergency repair calls outside regular hours.
• Conduct weekly fire safety checks such as fire alarm points, emergency exits, door retaining hardware, and emergency lighting.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in a maintenance role or similar self-employed maintenance work recently.
• Possession of a full driving license and willingness to travel between sites.
• Strong communication skills for detailed maintenance documentation and interaction across staff levels.
• Competence in DIY and general maintenance tasks.
• Preferably background experience in electrical, plumbing, or construction industries.
• Personality traits: friendly, conscientious, excellent team player with a positive outlook.
