About the Role
Join Aveo at Minkara Resort, located in Sydney’s Northern Beaches with picturesque views over Bayview and Mona Vale. This expansive 30-acre community offers a peaceful environment for easy retirement living. As a Maintenance Officer, you will be vital in maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of both individual homes and communal areas. Your duties will include addressing both urgent and scheduled maintenance needs, performing repairs and general handyman tasks, while maintaining positive engagement with residents. This role suits individuals with trade experience or strong practical maintenance skills who are approachable, proactive, and eager to support others.
This is a permanent full-time position with working hours Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a variety of repairs and handyman activities such as painting, hanging pictures, and changing light fixtures.
- Conduct minor plumbing tasks including replacing taps and washers.
- Assist in maintaining external elements like lighting and sprinkler systems.
- Execute planned preventative maintenance throughout the community.
- Ensure maintenance tools and equipment are properly maintained, organised, and safe to use.
- Document maintenance tasks, notes, and job progress thoroughly.
- Maintain a friendly and approachable presence to residents, collaborating with the team.
- Note: This position does not involve gardening duties.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Proven experience in general maintenance or a trade-related role with practical handyman skills.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to assess problems, troubleshoot effectively, and implement solutions.
- Knowledge of maintenance schedules and lifecycle expectations for equipment and community assets.
- Strong and clear communication skills to explain maintenance procedures in an accessible and resident-friendly manner.
- A positive and engaging attitude combined with pride in workmanship.
- Possession of a valid driver's license (mandatory).
- Compliance with health requirements including at least two COVID-19 vaccinations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly rate of $33.37 plus superannuation and adherence to relevant award conditions including penalty rates, overtime, and allowances.
