About the role

This position is responsible for guiding the maintenance team in troubleshooting and carrying out mechanical upkeep of post-production manufacturing equipment. The role also involves planning and executing preventive and periodic maintenance to minimize downtime, along with delivering department projects and improvements within target timelines.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance staff to diagnose issues and perform mechanical servicing of machines effectively.
  • Identify and fix recurring problems affecting machine performance or the quality of printed capsules, and implement suitable corrective actions.
  • Plan, schedule, and carry out preventive and periodic maintenance activities to keep downtime under control.
  • Maintain critical documentation, including SOPs, maintenance records, breakdown history cards, reports, and entries in the GEFU system.
  • Track machine breakdowns within required timelines, analyze root causes, and use findings to prevent repeat failures.
  • Recommend and apply preventive checks, corrective actions, and modifications for machines and related equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain the list of equipment that requires preventive maintenance and ensure it is completed as scheduled.
  • Take periodic stock of change parts, sub-assemblies, and other components.
  • Plan machine size changes in coordination with the section head to preserve the production line layout.
  • Ensure all equipment in the department remains in proper working condition to reduce process losses.
  • Work on spare-parts planning with purchase teams so that required spares are available at optimized cost.
  • Raise purchase requests for necessary spares and components, and coordinate procurement with the purchase department.
  • Suggest and implement operational improvements that help reduce departmental costs.
  • Inspect spares and equipment received from vendors to confirm quality and suitability.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment, including validation activities such as DQ, IQ, OQ, and PQ in coordination with QA.
  • Track CAPA execution to help avoid repeated customer complaints, working with Quality and the department team.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP, GDP, ISO, EMS, EHS, internal audit requirements, and related systems, while keeping proper records.
  • Maintain safety standards throughout the department.
  • Identify development needs of associates and coordinate training with HR to support department objectives.
  • Provide suitable training to team members and help build successor / second-line leadership capability.
