A manufacturing client in Aycliffe is hiring multiple Machine Operatives to join an ongoing assignment starting as soon as possible. The work is based in Newton Aycliffe, England, United Kingdom, and is set within a busy production setting.

Working pattern and contract details

• Immediate start available
• Assignment type: ongoing
• Shift system: 3-shift rotation across 24/5 operations
• Shift timings: 06:00–14:00, 14:00–22:00, and 22:00–06:00
• Weekly hours: 38
• Pay rate: £18.38 per hour
• Overtime pay is available

What the role involves

• Running machinery in a fast-moving manufacturing environment
• Carrying out picking and packing duties
• Performing quality inspections and visual checks
• Making sure the packaging matches the product and order details
• Calibrating scales according to the instruction sheet, and repeating the check more often when needed
• Checking products against templates to confirm correct size, shape, and hole placement
• Completing quality checks each time a new jumbo is loaded
• Keeping the work area tidy and carrying out housekeeping tasks
• Cleaning machines and reporting any damage identified
• Completing machine cleaning at the required intervals
• Following local safety rules, plant safety procedures, risk assessments, and HazCards, including the correct use of PPE/RPE where required
• Working with team members and support teams to keep production moving with high quality and minimal waste
• Taking part in improvement and problem-solving activities
• Sharing task outcomes through lead hands

Essential experience and skills

• Previous experience in production or machine operation within a manufacturing environment
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, changing setting and following standard work within continuous improvement processes
• Ability to follow process standards, product standards, and technical instructions, including recording results where needed
• Confidence in working with support teams to resolve product, process, and machine issues
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication skills and a team-focused approach
• Physical stamina, with the ability to climb steps and complete manual handling tasks
• Ability to stay focused during repetitive work
• Good standards of personal hygiene
• Ability to multitask when required
• Strong punctuality and flexibility, including shift work and weekend availability where needed
