Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled M&A Financial Analyst to evaluate acquisition prospects, create financial models and valuations, and facilitate communication among stakeholders during transactions. This role involves active participation in due diligence and deal execution while converting complex financial data into actionable advice and maintaining robust relationships with acquisition partners within a cooperative environment that promotes professional advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop financial models and perform valuations to evaluate acquisition opportunities, including normalization adjustments and synergy assessments.
- Support transaction processes by preparing NDAs, letters of intent, and financial assessments while managing information flow throughout the acquisition stages.
- Analyze financial information from acquisition targets to identify risks and opportunities, aiding in due diligence and acquisition recommendations.
- Coordinate document management to facilitate collaboration among internal teams, external advisors, and acquisition prospects.
- Collaborate with departments such as Legal, Operations, IT, Finance, and Integration along with external consultants by sharing financial data and addressing inquiries throughout transactions.
- Maintain strong relationships with acquisition targets through managing information requests, clarifying transaction prerequisites, and serving as a key contact during deals.
- Prepare and deliver executive presentations and customized financial analyses to support strategic initiatives, business development, and acquisition choices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in commerce or business with emphasis on finance or accounting.
- Two to three years of experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, or related transaction-focused roles.
- Pursuing CPA or CFA certification is advantageous.
- Strong expertise in financial modeling, valuations, and financial analysis.
- Understanding of the M&A process and transaction lifecycle.
- Experience within the insurance sector is considered beneficial.

- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and valuation, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial calculations and reporting.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for engagement with business owners, internal departments, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt in dynamic environments.
- Proactive and collaborative work style, ensuring stakeholders remain informed and workload challenges communicated effectively.
- Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive financial and business data.
Compensation and Work Environment
- Starting annual salary from $95,000.
- Hybrid work arrangement: two days in-office in the Greater Toronto Area.
