They operate eight technologically advanced farms and supply fresh lettuce products to more than 4,500 retail stores across the East Coast, Midwest, and Southern regions.
Job Overview
The Logistics Coordinator will oversee supply chain logistics to guarantee efficient product transportation and on-time deliveries. Key responsibilities include organizing shipments, ensuring carrier availability, resolving transport issues, and managing documentation. The role is essential to maintaining seamless supply chain processes and high customer service quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage transportation operations daily across multiple greenhouse sites
- Plan and optimize shipment routes and transportation modes
- Secure appropriate carrier capacity to meet schedules
- Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments efficiently
- Monitor shipments proactively, addressing delays or delivery challenges
- Communicate shipment statuses and operational updates to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain accurate shipment paperwork including Proof of Delivery and temperature logs
- Develop and nurture relationships with carriers, evaluate performance, and escalate problems when needed
- Handle special transport requests like samples and donations
- Review freight bills and assist with freight claims as required
- Generate reports and track key performance indicators related to transportation
- Support sourcing efforts for transportation and update routing guides
- Identify and implement improvements to logistics standard operating procedures
- Assist with launching new customer accounts and expanding distribution networks
- Provide both remote and occasional onsite support for operations
- Ensure adherence to company policies and compliance with food safety and transportation regulations
- Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call rotations
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline
- At least two years of relevant industry experience
- Proficient with supply chain management systems such as TMS, WMS, or ERP
- Understanding of different transportation modes, regulations such as Hours of Service, and equipment limitations
- Strong analytic skills and capability to solve logistics problems using data
- Ability to interpret various supply chain and transportation documents
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote environment
