About the Role
Join Star Construction LLC as a Locator and play a crucial role in marking underground utilities with flags and paint to help ensure safety and efficiency on projects.
Responsibilities
- Utilize detection equipment to identify and mark underground utilities, consulting experienced Locators when necessary.
- Interpret utility maps to accurately locate underground utilities.
- Record and document all locate activities.
- Respond promptly and courteously to excavation notices.
- Maintain clear communication with excavators, utility representatives, and internal staff.
- Occasionally perform shallow digging using a shovel when required.
- Be prepared to work overtime, travel, and handle on-call or after-hours duties as needed.
- Perform tasks under various weather conditions.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Authorization to work in the United States for this employer.
- High school diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
- Valid non-provisional state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Frequently required to work alone in remote settings with physical activities such as working with arms elevated, operating vehicles, bending, stooping, standing, walking, lifting up to 55 pounds, and using a keyboard and mouse.
- Occasional use of portable ladders, working in confined spaces, and climbing stairs.
Location
Work will be based at Star Construction's site in Cottendale, AL.
