About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and imaginative Library Learning Coordinator to become a vital part of our Cromwell Library team. This position focuses on connecting patrons with educational resources, literacy, cultural experiences, and community engagement through dynamic programming and events. From Storytime sessions aimed at preschool children to events that engage adults and seniors, you will create enriching experiences that promote lifelong learning and community cohesion.

Collaborating with fellow library staff, community partners, and various Council departments, you will contribute significantly to keeping our libraries welcoming, vibrant hubs serving a diverse population.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and implement varied library programs and activities serving a wide range of age groups including infants, children, youth, adults, and elder community members.
  • Identify community needs and design programs that foster literacy, education, cultural understanding, and social engagement.
  • Arrange visits from authors, artists, schools, and other local organizations.
  • Collaborate with the Libraries Events Team to facilitate district-wide initiatives and reading programs.
  • Provide support to smaller libraries in the district with planning and executing their programming.
  • Establish and nurture partnerships with community groups, stakeholders, and allied organizations.
  • Coordinate promotion and marketing efforts for programs alongside the Council's Communications team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Possession of a tertiary qualification or relevant credential in education, community development, or a similar field.
  • Previous experience in delivering programs, events, educational activities, or community outreach projects.
  • Proven customer service skills with a dedication to serving diverse populations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Comfortable and confident in delivering presentations to heterogeneous groups across all ages.
  • Strong organizational aptitude and ability to coordinate projects effectively.
  • Proficient using technology and digital platforms.
  • Creative thinker with the initiative to transform ideas into successful community programs.
  • Must hold a valid full New Zealand Driver’s License.
