Descrizione del lavoro

Role overview

This position is for a Lead Specialist in EHSS within the Performance & Reporting department at Maaden in Ras Al Khair, Saudi Arabia. The job is a full-time on-site role with 8 working hours per day. The posting window runs from 7/5/2026 to 7/19/2026.

About Maaden

Founded in 1997, Maaden is among the fastest-expanding mining businesses globally and the largest diversified mining and metals enterprise in the Middle East. The company is driving the growth of Saudi Arabia’s mining sector as a major contributor to the national economy through a fully integrated, world-class mining value chain.

Job purpose

The role is focused on leading process safety management while supporting assurance and compliance activities so that industrial and process operations remain safe, dependable, and aligned with internal, regulatory, and system requirements. It involves ownership of identifying, evaluating, and controlling process safety and major accident hazards, alongside active participation in assurance work, audits, and verification of corrective actions. The position also helps deliver, monitor, and improve health, safety, and environment programs across operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead process safety work across operational assets, including hazard studies such as HAZOP and LOPA, major accident hazard reviews, mechanical and asset integrity, management of change, and pre-startup safety reviews.
  • Support the Assurance & Compliance function by checking adherence to audit expectations, legal and regulatory standards, and Maaden’s EHSS Management System, while confirming that controls remain effective over time.
  • Track and verify corrective and preventive actions arising from audits, assurance activities, and incidents through to timely closure and effectiveness checks.
  • Plan, implement, and improve HSE programs, including industrial hygiene, hazard identification, and risk reduction controls.
  • Review and update high-level HSE policies, procedures, and standards to reflect changes in regulations and current industry practices.
  • Create and maintain safety, health, and environmental standards, programs, plans, and broader strategic frameworks.
  • Assess physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and environmental risks in an operating plant environment.
  • Use knowledge of NNRC standards and radiation risk management where relevant.
  • Recommend and validate engineering, administrative, PPE, and environmental controls to reduce operational and process-related risks.
  • Act as a technical expert for complex HSE topics, especially process safety, major accident hazards, and environmental incidents.

Qualifications and experience

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Chemical or Process Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a closely related field. Recognized HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar are preferred, and process-safety credentials such as HAZOP leadership or PSM are an advantage. The role requires at least 10 years of hands-on HSE experience in active heavy industry, mining, metals, refining, smelting, or comparable industrial/process settings. Experience limited to construction sites will not meet the requirement.

Additional notes

This role is intended for professionals with direct operational experience in live process environments. Strong field involvement, solid analytical capability, and the ability to drive audits, assurance activities, and corrective-action closure are essential.

Skills and working style

The ideal candidate communicates clearly across departments, contractors, and support teams; provides practical direction and feedback; produces accurate documentation and reports; interprets data and risk information effectively; understands global HSE regulations and international EHS management systems; and applies advanced risk assessment and process safety methods to support informed decisions. A sound understanding of environmental compliance and sustainability expectations is also important.
