Laundry Worker

Job Overview

The Laundry Worker is responsible for operating laundry machinery related to finishing flatwork and tumble-dried items. This role includes cleaning and maintaining designated work areas to satisfy customer and client expectations. The worker also folds, manages, and supplies cleaned linens to operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and categorize soiled linens into proper classifications.
• Operate automatic cart washers and remove linen carts upon completion.
• Use flatwork ironers and small piece folders to fold linens following specific standards, including handling specialty items.
• Maintain strict quality control to ensure linens meet customer-specific standards and escalate any issues to lead personnel or supervisors.
• Label and tag linen distribution carts accurately, ensure all carts are covered before transport.
• Fold and store linens to preserve cleanliness standards.
• Assist truck drivers with loading linens and materials onto vehicles.
• Notify leads or supervisors regarding supply levels or inventory needs.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and well-maintained.

• Preferred prior experience in a high-volume laundry environment.
• Team player with the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships.
• Detail-oriented with the capacity to multitask efficiently.
• Ability to comprehend and implement policies, guidelines, and procedures.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in operating laundry equipment related to the role.
• Strong organizational skills to manage work responsibilities effectively.

Additional Information

This position may involve physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, and standing for extended periods. Usage of uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.

Potential hazards include exposure to infectious diseases, electrical equipment, burns, blood contact, heat and humidity, mechanical equipment, and sharp objects.
