Overview
Chanelle Pharma is inviting applications for an enthusiastic and driven Junior Quality Control (QC) Analyst to join their dynamic QC Department on a fixed 12-month contract basis. The role is based onsite at their QC Laboratory in Loughrea, County Galway, operating five days a week.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute physical and chemical analyses of raw materials, finished pharmaceuticals (including tablets, boluses, and veterinary drenches), contract manufacturing items, stability, validation, and cleaning validation samples using validated analytical methodologies.
- Conduct water testing and environmental monitoring as per prescribed schedules and procedures.
- Inspect incoming materials such as packaging foils, labels, bulk finished products, and injectable products.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments in line with established calibration and maintenance plans.
- Follow and comply with all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), pharmacopoeial standards, specifications, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices.
- Meticulously maintain laboratory documentation including logbooks and notebooks adhering to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
- Support QC testing throughput aiming to achieve over 95% customer service level targets.
- Ensure accurate filing and maintenance of QC records.
- Collaborate with team leads, supervisors, and production personnel to guarantee prompt result reporting and efficient problem resolution.
- Provide timely feedback and escalate deviations, discrepancies, or non-conformities when necessary.
- Coordinate sample dispatches to external laboratories for additional analyses.
- Manage vendor relations for QC consumables and supplies.
- Participate in internal lab rotation duties including general housekeeping and lab hygiene.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols and contribute suggestions for improvements.
- Undertake other responsibilities delegated by QC leadership as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Level 8 or equivalent) in a chemistry-related field.
- Prior experience in a pharmaceutical Quality Control laboratory functioning under current Good Laboratory Practice (cGLP) conditions.
- Familiarity with EU GMP and US FDA regulatory requirements is preferred but not mandatory.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in analytical techniques including High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), Ultraviolet Spectroscopy (UV), dissolution testing, and physical product evaluation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well within multifunctional teams.
- Effective verbal and written communication capabilities.
- High ethical standards with the ability to appropriately escalate concerns.
- Adaptable and open to learning and growing technical skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with a methodical working style.
- Self-motivated with a proactive attitude and a sense of ownership.
- Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and distinguish between urgent and non-urgent work items.

- Competent in Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
