Position Summary

The role of Junior Data Scientist is designed to support the Marine Corps Logistics GPN program by assisting the Senior Analyst with essential data preparation, scripting, automation, and basic analytical tasks. This position offers a valuable opportunity for early-career data professionals to gain exposure to Department of Defense datasets within a collaborative and mission-focused setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct foundational data cleaning and preparation to enable effective analytics and reporting.
• Execute routine analytical models under guidance from Senior Analysts.
• Assist with validating and structuring data for analysis.
• Develop and maintain scripts that automate standard data processing and query operations.
• Write and run SQL queries to extract and manipulate relevant data.
• Contribute to automation initiatives aimed at enhancing data collection and reporting workflows.
• Design basic dashboards and visualizations using common business intelligence tools.
• Assist in developing reports and analytics deliverables for stakeholders.
• Help communicate analytical insights through clear visual presentations.
• Collaborate closely with senior team members and participate in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
• Support wider analytics efforts within the Marine Corps Logistics GPN program.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Between 1 to 4 years of experience in a related field.
• Proficiency with programming languages and tools such as Python, R, or SQL.
• Experience utilizing basic data visualization software.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to work effectively within technical teams and adhere to established analytical protocols.
