Role Overview

The IT Assets Management Specialist is responsible for the comprehensive management of IT assets throughout their lifecycle to ensure efficient planning, acquisition, deployment, maintenance, optimization, and disposal. The role emphasizes compliance, cost-effectiveness, and operational support, covering hardware, software, and related assets to maximize organizational value and minimize risks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete lifecycle of IT assets including hardware and software—from procurement to retirement, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
  • Define and implement lifecycle standards for end-user devices, servers, network infrastructure, and software.
  • Monitor asset status including health, warranty, usage, and refresh cycles to drive proactive maintenance and decision-making.
  • Lead technology refresh initiatives and dispose of hardware securely aligning with regulatory and corporate guidelines.
  • Provide expertise in IT Asset Management (ITAM), Hardware Asset Management (HAM), and Software Asset Management (SAM), overseeing processes, governance, tool usage, and compliance adherence.
  • Maintain accurate and consolidated asset repositories and Configuration Management Databases (CMDB) with rigorous quality control.
  • Conduct audits and assessments on hardware and software license compliance, identify risks, and implement optimization strategies.
  • Manage software licensing renewals, track usage, and spearhead cost-saving initiatives.
  • Create and maintain ITAM policies, standards, and procedural documentation, while establishing KPIs and dashboards to measure asset management effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with platform teams to enhance ITAM tools such as ServiceNow and drive automation via platforms like Power Automate and Automation Anywhere.
  • Integrate IT asset management tools with endpoint, identity, and infrastructure systems to ensure seamless operational workflows.
  • Offer advisory services to IT and business units on improving operations, mitigating risk, and optimizing asset costs related to IT asset management.
  • Support IT Service Management (ITSM) through daily operational assistance and administration related to asset management tasks.
  • Coordinate and lead physical asset inventories and audits as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience managing IT asset lifecycle processes including refresh and hardware/software disposal.
  • Proficient with ITAM, HAM, and SAM tools such as ServiceNow and Flexera or similar platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, SCCM, Intune, Azure, Office 365, Group Policy Objects, Citrix, macOS, and networking concepts.
  • Familiar with Microsoft 365 platforms like SharePoint and automation tools such as Power Automate; experience with automation platforms like Automation Anywhere is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a capacity to evaluate existing ITAM maturity and design actionable improvement plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative, positive attitude and ability to engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while committing to ongoing professional development.
