Descrizione del lavoro

Overview

A respected independent corporate advisory firm is seeking an Investment Banking Analyst/Associate to strengthen its advisory team in Sydney. The firm is known for senior-led guidance, strong sector expertise and consistently high standards of execution across private and public market transactions.

Its clients include private business owners, listed companies, private equity sponsors, family offices and other corporates. The advisory work covers mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, strategic reviews and a wide range of corporate finance assignments.

With ongoing deal flow and a healthy pipeline ahead, this role offers a chance to take on meaningful responsibility, work directly with senior bankers and clients, and contribute to transactions in a lean, entrepreneurial and technically demanding environment.

What you'll do

  • Support the delivery of M&A, capital advisory and broader corporate finance engagements across both private treaty and public market transactions.
  • Develop and update financial models, valuation work and transaction materials that support live mandates and client recommendations.
  • Create polished client documents such as information memoranda, management presentations, board papers, buyer research packs, strategic analysis and transaction documentation.
  • Assist with buy-side and sell-side processes, including target screening, market mapping, investor outreach, due diligence coordination, process tracking and execution support.
  • Carry out company, industry and market research to inform live deals as well as origination efforts.
  • Work alongside senior bankers on client meetings, deal strategy, negotiations and relationship management.
  • Coordinate execution tasks across active mandates while liaising with clients, counterparties, legal teams, accountants, investors and other advisers.
  • Maintain consistently high standards in analysis, presentation quality, accuracy and execution discipline.

What we're looking for

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in investment banking, corporate advisory, transaction services, valuation, restructuring or a closely aligned corporate finance setting.
  • Hands-on exposure to M&A, capital raising, public market transactions, strategic reviews or similar corporate finance work.
  • Strong ability in financial modelling, valuation, analysis and presentation development.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, along with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Sound commercial judgement, intellectual curiosity and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to deliver under pressure in a fast-moving, transaction-led environment.
  • A degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Law or a related field.
  • CFA, CA or similar professional study is considered an advantage, though it is not mandatory.

Why this role stands out

  • Work on high-quality M&A and corporate finance assignments involving private businesses, listed companies, financial sponsors and family offices.
  • Join an independent advisory platform that prioritises tailored advice over balance sheet-led product pushing.
  • Benefit from lean deal teams that provide early responsibility, direct client contact and frequent access to senior bankers.
  • Gain exposure to private treaty M&A, public market transactions, capital raisings, restructurings and strategic advisory projects.
  • Be part of a culture focused on execution quality, technical rigor and long-term client relationships.
  • Build a pathway toward becoming a trusted corporate adviser if you are a strong performer.
