Overview
This internship provides hands-on exposure to Corporate & Institutional Banking, offering valuable insight into industry practices. Candidates will gain practical experience with banking facilities such as secured and unsecured lending, bilateral trade finance, and syndicated loans, while learning about regulatory frameworks like the MAS 626 guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn technical aspects of secured/unsecured lending and various banking facilities including bilateral trade finance and syndicated loans.
- Receive training on the bank's KYC/CDD procedures and assist in onboarding new clients and conducting annual reviews.
- Apply theoretical banking knowledge, including corporate finance and regulatory guidelines, to practical scenarios.
- Analyze client financial statements and input data into the bank's systems alongside providing brief financial performance summaries.
- Support the monitoring and tracking of trade transactions such as letters of credit, import/export bills, trust receipts, and pricing checks while identifying any potential risks.
Opportunities & Exposure
- Assist Relationship Managers (RM) and Assistant Relationship Managers (ARM) in evaluating creditworthiness of borrowers, both individuals and companies.
- Utilize Bloomberg terminals to aid economic outlook reports, commodity price trends, and transaction surveillance.
- Gain exposure to related departments including Treasury, Compliance, and Risk Management.
Projects
- Undertake mini projects, for example, optimizing the KYC/CDD processes within the bank.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of banking sector operations and MAS 626 regulations is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Enthusiastic and eager to acquire new knowledge, able to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Business Studies, Administration, Banking & Finance, Management, or a related field.
- Previous internship experience in banking or financial services is highly preferred.
- Availability to commit to a 4 to 6 months internship starting September 2026.
