About the organisation
The AA has supported New Zealanders on their journeys for more than 120 years and is now one of the country’s most trusted and well-known brands. What began as a club for motoring enthusiasts has developed into a large, fast-moving organisation serving over a million members with a wide range of products and services.
The business is also in the middle of significant change, with a focus on becoming more connected, modern, and purpose-led. That means more opportunities to work across teams, build new capabilities, and contribute to meaningful outcomes while the company continues to invest in people, systems, and better ways of working.
Role overview
An opportunity is available for an Insurance Consultant to join the New Plymouth Centre.
In this role, you will help customers choose the most suitable insurance products and related services. You will assess their needs, present appropriate options, and make sure the final recommendation aligns with what they require.
What you will be doing
- Support customers in selecting insurance solutions and additional services that suit their situation.
- Review customer needs carefully and guide them toward the right product fit.
- Work in a retail environment where results, adaptability, and pace matter.
- Contribute to team success while building strong, positive customer relationships.
About you
You should bring excellent customer service skills and a genuine ability to build relationships. Insurance sales experience is desirable, though not mandatory. The most important part is the ability to meet KPIs and consistently deliver outcomes.
You will do well in this role if you learn quickly, cope well with change, and enjoy working in a busy retail setting. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach are also important.
What we offer
- Complimentary AA membership for you and your family.
- Your birthday off, plus 2 wellbeing leave days each year.
- Access to training and career development opportunities.
- Discounted insurance.
Additional information
The AA offers more than roadside assistance and continues to grow into new areas, creating fresh challenges and career paths.
The organisation values diversity and wants people to feel comfortable being themselves during the recruitment process and at work. If you need any support to take part fairly in the hiring process, you are encouraged to let them know.
Applications are reviewed by real people rather than automated AI screening tools. The company emphasizes a people-led, relationship-focused process and values potential, individuality, and the personal story each applicant brings.
Candidates who do not meet every listed requirement are still encouraged to apply if they believe they may be a suitable match for the role.
