Role Overview and Responsibilities
As an Indirect Purchasing Manager, you will oversee strategic sourcing and complete lifecycle management for all indirect or non-production procurement categories. These encompass areas such as marketing, IT hardware and software, facility upkeep, professional services, office supplies, employee training, business travel, and corporate event management.
- Formulate and implement category-specific procurement plans, lead supplier assessments, manage request for proposals (RFPs), negotiate commercial terms, and finalize contracts to balance cost efficiency with service excellence.
- Develop and maintain a system for monitoring vendor performance through regular business assessments, recognize potential risks, and establish appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate closely with various internal departments including Sales, Aftersales, Finance, Human Resources, and IT to understand their requirements and offer expert procurement advice and support.
- Conduct comprehensive spend data analysis aimed at uncovering opportunities for consolidation and cost reduction; champion uniform and compliant procurement processes to minimize unauthorized purchases.
Qualifications
- Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a comparable discipline.
- Bring over five years of experience in procurement, including a minimum of three years dedicated to indirect procurement or strategic sourcing roles, preferably within Canadian automotive dealership or retail sectors.
- Exhibit strong skills in commercial negotiation, cost evaluation, and managing supplier relationships. Demonstrable aptitude in data analysis and project execution is crucial.
- Show proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP procurement software along with excellent communication skills in English and the capability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Have a self-driven approach with the ability to work autonomously in a dynamic environment and to manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
