Role Overview
The HR Coordinator role within the Retail Support Center at Ace Hardware plays a crucial part in administering HR functions that align with the company's strategic goals. Responsibilities include supporting daily HR operations, ensuring legal compliance, and nurturing a constructive work environment. This role works closely with Talent Acquisition, aiding onboarding, managing employee relations, administering benefits, and contributing to overall HR initiatives that drive employee engagement and organizational development. The regular workweek is Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional flexibility for extended hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and conduct new employee orientation, including preparing materials and presenting company information.
- Manage annual harassment training programs and maintain accurate compliance records.
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition specialists for candidate sourcing, interview coordination, and hiring processes.
- Provide backup support for payroll tasks such as weekly processing and incentive computations.
- Generate and review assorted reports within the Workday system to assist HR analytics.
- Run and coordinate the RSC birthday program to celebrate employee milestones and enhance morale.
- Support accounts payable processes by assisting with invoice handling as backup via Esker.
- Promote a positive employee relations atmosphere through leadership and engagement efforts.
- Arrange travel and manage per diem allowances for team members.
- Respond to employee inquiries about benefits and facilitate annual benefits enrollment activities.
- Lead wellness initiatives as the Wellness Champion, including local activities and biometric sessions.
- Serve as a primary resource for HR policies, providing guidance and support to staff.
- Maintain HR bulletin boards, organize supplies, and manage procurement of promotional items and refreshments.
- Ensure secure upkeep of HR documents within designated filing systems like Box.
- Stay current on employment legislation and uphold organizational compliance.
- Engage in HR team meetings to align departmental and company objectives.
Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of HR experience or a high school diploma with equivalent hands-on experience.
- Bachelor's degree focused on Human Resources is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications; Workday HRIS experience is highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and dedication to fostering a positive workplace environment.
