Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Housing Support Manager to join our Christchurch team, supporting a portfolio of low to medium needs customers and their whānau. This role involves cultivating long-term relationships, ensuring housing stability, and addressing wellbeing needs as they evolve.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to customers to help achieve housing and social stability.
- Manage challenging situations and disruptive behaviours with skillful and courageous communication.
- Conduct home visits at Kāinga Ora properties and collaborate with key stakeholders through meetings to maintain tailored support services.
- Handle matters related to rent arrears and debt recovery effectively.
- Travel extensively within the region as required.
Candidate Profile
- Expertise in building strong, empathetic relationships across diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in de-escalating highly emotional incidents with problem-solving aptitude.
- Comfortable working on rent arrears and financial recovery processes.
- Technologically adept with the ability to quickly master new systems and tools.
- Experience in tenancy management, emergency, or social housing environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act is advantageous.
- Passionate about supporting customers facing complex housing and wellbeing challenges.
- Cultural competency, particularly in engaging effectively with Māori and Pasifika communities.
