About the Role
Sancta Maria International School in Faridabad is seeking a full-time Houseparent for its boys' boarding residence. This pivotal role is focused on fostering a safe, structured, and supportive living atmosphere to promote the wellbeing, emotional growth, and academic success of the boarding students while embodying the school's ethos.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive daily pastoral care and provide emotional and supervisory support to boys residing in the boarding house.
- Maintain a secure, orderly environment using consistent routines, positive reinforcement techniques, and respectful engagement.
- Oversee health standards, hygiene practices, and general wellness, coordinating with the school nurse and counselors as necessary.
- Encourage a balanced lifestyle blending study, leisure, and rest.
- Function as a mentor to guide students through personal, social, and academic challenges fostering empathy, proper conduct, and conflict resolution.
- Administer disciplinary matters promptly in line with institutional policies.
- Manage daily boarding operations including wake-up times, meals, study periods, and bedtime routines.
- Keep thorough records of attendance, incidents, and conduct room inspections to maintain cleanliness and order.
- Collaborate with housekeeping and maintenance to ensure facilities are safe and well-maintained.
- Communicate regularly with parents to update student progress and well-being.
- Assist newcomers in adjusting to residential life to nurture community spirit and belonging.
- Work jointly with academic staff to support students’ educational and disciplinary needs.
- Effectively handle emergencies following school guidelines, including medical or safety concerns.
- Implement child protection and safeguarding measures rigorously.
- Organize and oversee extracurricular activities during evenings and weekends to enhance boarding culture.
- Celebrate milestones such as birthdays and festivals to strengthen the sense of home and community.
- Promote values such as independence, accountability, and mutual respect.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
- Prior experience in residential pastoral care or boarding contexts preferred.
- Child protection and safeguarding training or willingness to complete it.
- At least 2 years of experience working with adolescents in residential or educational environments.
- Proven ability in mentoring and managing behavioural issues in teenage boys.
