About The Role
The Healthcare Assistant will work in alignment with the Good Shepherd Centre's overall objectives and policies, assisting service users within their own homes while upholding their dignity and wellbeing. This role involves implementing personalized support plans directed by project workers, including assisting with personal care, cleaning, shopping, household tasks, and supporting life skills like meal preparation and using household appliances.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate under the Good Shepherd Centre’s policies and goals.
- Assist clients with daily personal care while respecting their dignity.
- Execute recovery-focused support plans as instructed by project workers, encompassing cleaning, shopping, and housekeeping.
- Support tenants in maintaining their homes and managing personal care needs.
- Collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Remind service users to take medications and monitor prescription needs.
- Provide relief care for colleagues when required.
- Report concerns and stay aware of changes in service users’ needs to project workers or team leaders.
- Help service users develop life skills such as meal prep, cleaning, and appliance use.
- Maintain up-to-date records including daily logs and handovers.
- Adhere to service models and best practice standards.
- Participate in training, meetings, and formal/informal supervision sessions.
- Support service users to attend appointments using company vehicles or public transport.
- Work a flexible schedule including 5 days per week and some evenings/weekends as needed.
- Implement and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
- Ensure confidentiality in all matters and secure storage of reports and records.
- Participate in evaluating daily activities.
- Attend to health, safety, and welfare concerns promptly and report them to appropriate persons.
- Promote the safety, health, and wellbeing of all service users.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
Additional Information
This position is offered as a specified purpose contract and is subject to ongoing funding support. The role demands variable working hours across the week, including occasional evenings and weekends to fulfill the service objectives. Confidentiality and vigilance towards workplace health and safety are integral to this role.
