About the Role

Join Fresh Minds as a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) and take an integral role in enhancing New Zealand's primary care mental health services. Employed on a permanent part-time basis (0.4 FTE, 16 hours per week) at Onerahi Family Healthcare in Whangarei, the HIP works at the frontline within general practice clinics, focusing on enabling individuals to achieve their health and wellbeing objectives through brief, evidence-based interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver brief psychological therapies, emphasizing Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT) alongside evidence-based group sessions.
  • Offer consultation, education, and guidance to general practice team members as a novel clinical role within the practice.
  • Collaborate with GPs and nurses to develop intervention pathways tailored to the clinic’s community health requirements.

Requirements

  • Fully registered mental health professional: psychologist, psychotherapist, mental health nurse, social worker, occupational therapist, registered counsellor with DAPAANZ or NZAC full membership, plus Te Whatu Ora Accreditation.
  • Recent experience with talking therapies such as ACT, FACT, or CBT.
