Job Overview
Blue Water Thinking is seeking a part-time Graphic Designer to produce accessible, visually engaging, and user-friendly interface designs for VA OAA Data Management Center applications and platforms. The work involves creating user-centered interfaces using technologies such as Bootstrap, jQuery, and centralized CSS, coordinating with developers in a .NET Core C# and Power Platform environment, and ensuring compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop accessible and aesthetically pleasing interfaces for applications and platforms.
- Produce user-focused designs leveraging Bootstrap, jQuery, and centralized CSS files.
- Collaborate closely with front-end and back-end development teams to integrate designs within .NET Core, C#, and Power Platform systems.
- Ensure all new and updated interfaces comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
- Maintain consistent visual style and functionality across various applications and reports.
- Participate in formal usability testing activities as guided by the contracting officer representative.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a relevant field (no equivalencies accepted).
- Minimum of four years’ experience in graphic design focused on user-centered design and accessibility.
- Proficient with Bootstrap, jQuery, centralized CSS management, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.
- Experience collaborating with development teams to incorporate designs into technical environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or training in Section 508 compliance.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship at any time.
- Must be able to obtain and sustain federal Public Trust clearance necessary for this role.
Compensation
The salary for this position varies based on factors such as location, candidate experience, and organizational budget, with an expected hourly range of $45 to $65 for part-time work up to 250 hours annually.
