Role Overview

This permanent part-time role, based in Wellington or Auckland for 32 hours each week, involves acting as a Government Reporting Analyst. Reporting directly to the Head of Business Planning and Performance, the role focuses on ensuring compliance with Crown entity requirements. Key responsibilities include managing Official Information Act requests, Parliamentary Questions, various government reports, and supporting ministerial and trade mission activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead coordination and timely management of Official Information Act requests by gathering information and collaborating with subject experts to generate accurate responses.
  • Maintain the OIA register to ensure that all requests comply with legislation, internal processes, and deadlines.
  • Manage responses to Parliamentary Questions and contribute to other ministerial and government reporting tasks as necessary.
  • Support preparation and delivery of accountability documents such as Quarterly and Annual Reports, Annual Reviews, and Estimates questions.
  • Develop and sustain effective relationships with internal departments, the Communications team, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate quality reporting and advice.
  • Enhance organizational understanding of Crown entity duties by creating and delivering guidance, inductions, and informational sessions.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience handling Official Information Act requests and/or Parliamentary Questions, preferably within public sector or Crown entities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OIA legislative frameworks, procedures, sensitivities, and deadlines.
  • Experience assisting in government reporting and accountability document preparation.
  • Exceptional written communication skills enabling creation of clear, concise, and audience-appropriate responses.
  • Strong organizational abilities with high attention to detail to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with senior colleagues and government stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement and confidence in dealing with complex or sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated capacity to perform effectively within a political environment.
  • Preferably experience engaging with Ministerial offices.
