Job description
Position Overview
This role involves serving as the Government Accountable Officer for Ammunition Supply Point operations, managing all aspects of receipt, storage, issuance, shipment, and accountability of Class V supplies including ammunition, explosives, missiles, rockets, and residue at the installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the assigned ammunition, related equipment, and Army Support Activity Stock Record Accounts.
- Ensure comprehensive accountability and proper maintenance of all munitions stock, including associated components and packing materials generated during munitions consumption.
- Supervise Ammunition Supply Point personnel to guarantee requisitioning, receipt, storage, issuance, retrograde, and processing of forecasted training ammunition, munitions, and operational loads.
- Authorize or reject ammunition issuance and certify that residue is free of explosives and determine proper disposition.
- Assess resource needs including financial, manpower, and materials to fulfill long-term work plans.
- Monitor progress against work schedules, including handling unplanned or emergency tasks.
- Maintain strict compliance with Army physical security standards to safeguard all Class V munitions and related materiel.
Employment Conditions
- Appointment may require a suitability or fitness evaluation following a background check.
- This role is designated as Tier 3, Non-Critical Sensitive, Moderate Risk, requiring obtaining and maintaining a Secret Security Clearance.
- Subject to the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban (Lautenberg Amendment), which restricts firearm or ammunition possession for certain individuals.
- Pre-employment physical examination required.
- Position may require on-call duties and irregular work hours.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel up to 10% of the time is expected.
- Participation in the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, including mandatory urinalysis testing before appointment and randomly thereafter.
Qualifications and Eligibility
Applicants must be from specific employment authority categories and provide documentation accordingly. The role requires one year of specialized experience, including ammunition supply management; receiving, storing, issuing, or shipping ammunition, explosives, or chemical agents; inventory accountability; and using automated supply systems or databases. Time in grade and federal service requirements apply for those holding a General Schedule position within the last 52 weeks. This position does not accept education substitution for experience.
