About the Organization
Barayamal is an Indigenous-led nonprofit in Australia that supports First Nations entrepreneurship through education, mentoring, networks, and advocacy. Its work brings together community, industry, government, and universities to help build ventures that are both culturally grounded and commercially viable. The organization is driven by the belief that empowering Indigenous entrepreneurs has impact far beyond business, including the protection of biodiversity and community knowledge.
Role Overview
This is a remote volunteer opportunity for a freelance motion graphic designer. You will produce motion graphics and short-form video assets that communicate Barayamal’s mission, programs, and community stories across digital platforms. The work includes concept development, storyboarding, animation, visual design, and editing content for social media, websites, and presentations.
What You’ll Do
- Develop concepts and storyboards for motion-led visual content.
- Create animated sequences and engaging motion graphics.
- Design visual elements that stay aligned with the brand’s look and feel.
- Edit motion assets and short videos for social channels, web use, and presentations.
- Work with the team to turn briefs into clear and effective visual stories.
- Adapt existing creative assets into new formats as needed.
- Ensure all content is respectful, accessible, and culturally appropriate.
- Handle multiple tasks independently while meeting agreed timelines.
What We’re Looking For
- Hands-on experience in motion design and motion graphics with the ability to produce compelling animated content.
- Working knowledge of video production, including editing, sequencing, and exporting for digital delivery.
- Solid graphic design ability for creating polished visuals for social, web, and presentations.
- Familiarity with tools such as After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar software.
- Strong sense of visual storytelling, attention to detail, and consistency with brand standards.
- Comfort working remotely and managing your own workflow across several tasks or deadlines.
- Interest in learning about First Nations cultures and perspectives; experience with Indigenous communities is a plus but not mandatory.
- A portfolio showing relevant motion graphic and design work, including professional, volunteer, or personal projects.
