About United Airlines Flight Attendant Role

Training and Onboarding
You will start with comprehensive flight attendant training lasting 6.5 weeks in Houston, TX, covering all safety and service standards. After training, you will be assigned a base from one of our hubs, including Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles. During training, a stipend of $140 weekly is provided alongside hotel accommodation and meals. Graduates receive a $1,000 bonus.

Responsibilities
- Maintain highest safety standards during flights
- Engage with customers warmly and professionally, managing diverse situations with optimism
- Be flexible to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and be ready for short-notice reserve assignments
- Exhibit punctuality and dependability to meet schedules and customer expectations
- Work both independently and collaboratively with team members
- Serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol, adhering to professional standards
Essential Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum age of 21 years at application
- High school diploma or GED; at least two years of college preferred
- A minimum of one year in customer service roles within retail, hospitality, education, aviation, or social service sectors
- Clear, loud verbal communication skills, including English fluency and desirable second language proficiency (e.g., Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, etc.)
- Hearing and vision meeting FAA standards; physical ability to lift luggage and operate equipment
- Professional grooming standards with strict tattoo and adornment guidelines
- Possession of a valid U.S. or foreign passport with at least 12 months validity and ability to travel globally without restrictions
- Legal work authorization in the U.S.
- Willingness to pass background checks, drug screening, vision/hearing tests, and successfully complete safety drills
- Ability to work a flexible, 24/7 schedule supporting airline operations
