Key responsibilities

• Direct workshop, fleet, transport, and yard operations to deliver services safely, efficiently, and within budget.
• Schedule and supervise maintenance work so vehicles and equipment remain reliable and productive.
• Maintain strict adherence to HSE requirements, internal policies, and applicable industry standards, while reinforcing a safety-first culture.
• Recruit, guide, assess, coach, and develop workshop and technical staff.
• Create, improve, and standardise systems, processes, and working methods that increase quality and productivity.
• Track operating performance and make sure maintenance plans and legal requirements are consistently met.
• Oversee workshop facilities, tools, equipment, and related infrastructure to ensure they remain safe, functional, and continuously improved.
• Manage fleet and transport activities to improve utilisation, control costs, maintain compliance, and support growth of the company’s in-house fleet.
• Work with Operations and senior leadership on planning, resource allocation, and strategic objectives.
• Spot logistical and operational opportunities for improvement, apply practical solutions, and encourage accountability and ongoing improvement.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a similar discipline.
• At least 10 years of experience in fleet, workshop, maintenance, or transport operations.
• Minimum 5 years in a managerial capacity.
• Strong capability in leading teams and managing people effectively.
• Practical background in fleet, workshop, maintenance, or transport operations.
• Good understanding of HSE rules, fleet compliance, and operational safety.
• Well-developed planning, organisation, problem-solving, and process improvement abilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Advantageous: experience with heavy vehicle fleets, transport logistics, or construction equipment.
• Advantageous: familiarity with fleet management software and maintenance management systems.
• Advantageous: experience setting up or scaling fleet operations.
