Role Overview

The Financial Crime Manager will lead and reinforce Creditspring's financial crime framework, managing day-to-day activities related to fraud, AML, sanctions, and investigations. Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance and MLRO, this role operates within the Compliance function to ensure the business is protected against financial crime risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the fraud and financial crime team responsible for Customer Due Diligence (CDD), AML and sanctions screening, reviewing suspicious activity reports, conducting fraud investigations, and collaborating with law enforcement and government entities.
  • Maintain and update policies, procedures, and risk assessments to comply with regulatory standards and adapt to business changes.
  • Actively participate in investigating and resolving advanced fraud and financial crime cases.
  • Facilitate financial crime training and promote a robust compliance culture among staff.
  • Support the Head of Compliance/MLRO in upholding the company's AML, counter-terrorism financing (CTF), sanctions, anti-bribery, and fraud prevention frameworks.
  • Oversee quality assurance of investigations, onboarding verifications, alert handling, and case management.
  • Provide detailed management reports and insights to MLRO and governance committees highlighting incidents, trends, breaches, and control effectiveness.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and advise internal teams on improving processes or revising policies accordingly.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, such as law enforcement and government officials, as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of Suspicious Activity Reports where necessary.
  • Serve as deputy or delegate to the MLRO on operational matters as required.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by line or senior management.

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • At least 5 years of experience in compliance, financial crime, and AML within financial services.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK fraud and financial crime legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage a financial crime team effectively.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities.
  • Experience in consumer lending is advantageous.
  • Professional certifications such as ICA, ACAMS, or equivalents are desirable.
