Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Finance Business Partner to become a crucial member of our Finance department. This role involves close collaboration with leadership teams to provide reliable financial guidance and assurance that supports strategic choices and sound financial stewardship within the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
You will engage extensively with cost centre managers throughout the organisation, assisting with financial planning, budget development, forecasting, reporting, and investment evaluation in a complex, purpose-oriented public sector setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer expert financial advice and thought leadership to align with organisational strategies and objectives.
- Lead and aid financial planning, budgeting processes, and budget reforecasting activities.
- Evaluate investment proposals, identify financial risks, and explore opportunities.
- Produce accurate monthly financial reports, perform variance analyses, and provide forward-looking insights.
- Support processes related to pricing, funding, and compliance with Cabinet financial protocols.
- Ensure all financial data meets legislative requirements and adheres to best practices.
- Contribute to core accountability documents such as the Annual Report, Statement of Intent, and Statement of Performance Expectations.
- Engage with external parties including the Treasury, Ministry of Transport, and external auditors.
- Champion ongoing enhancements in financial skills, systems, and procedures.
Candidate Profile
- Chartered Accountant credential recognised by CA ANZ.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Extensive background in finance, with considerable financial accounting experience in a service-oriented organisation.
- Strong expertise in technical accounting, ideally within public sector or similarly complex environments.
- Demonstrated analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional skills in stakeholder management with the capability to influence and advise senior leaders.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial management systems.
- Committed to continuous improvement and adept at adapting to change.

Additional Information
The salary range for this position is from $115,536 to $141,751 NZD, with starting pay dependent upon skills, knowledge, experience, and internal pay parity.
