Role Overview
This Mumbai-based, on-site position is for a full-time Fashion Merchandiser who will oversee the planning, development, and management of garment accessory assortments in line with current market demand and customer needs. The role requires close coordination with design, production, and sales functions, along with order tracking and follow-through to ensure products are delivered on time and meet quality expectations.
What You Will Do
The role includes reviewing sales performance, observing inventory levels, and suggesting product-line adjustments to improve profitability and customer satisfaction. You will also build and maintain productive relationships with buyers and major accounts, prepare merchandising decks and presentations, and contribute to the launch of new products.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should have prior experience in fashion merchandising, ideally within garment accessories or apparel, with a solid grasp of assortment planning and line development. Exposure to manufacturing or accessory-led businesses, especially in Mumbai or comparable markets, will be considered an advantage.
Key Skills and Competencies
You should be able to interpret trends, carry out market research, and compare competitor offerings to support merchandising decisions. Strong coordination skills are needed to work across design, production, quality, and sales teams through different stages of the product lifecycle. Comfort with sales, inventory, and margin reporting, along with basic Excel or similar tools, is also important. Effective communication, negotiation, organization, and attention to detail are essential for managing multiple categories and deadlines.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Design, Business, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
