Job Overview
The Richmond, VA office is seeking an Experienced Engineering Technician who is detail-oriented, motivated to grow professionally, and eager to contribute to a strong team. This position involves hands-on work related to construction materials testing and field observations at various construction sites.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Conduct field observations and testing during placement of construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and sprayed-on fireproofing.
- Perform laboratory testing on soil and concrete samples.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Minimum of four years of construction experience; relevant technical post-secondary education in engineering or geology can substitute for some experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills coupled with good organizational abilities.
- Basic mathematical competency.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Interest in outdoor work at construction sites.
- Physical capability to lift up to 60 pounds, navigate construction environments including trenches (following OSHA standards), climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions.
Additional Requirements
- Must successfully pass background checks potentially including criminal history, motor vehicle records, and credit checks.
- Must pass pre-employment screening procedures.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this role ranges from $20 to $30, with pay varying depending on location and other factors. Schnabel is committed to equitable and competitive pay practices across all offices.
