Job Overview

The Richmond, VA office is seeking an Experienced Engineering Technician who is detail-oriented, motivated to grow professionally, and eager to contribute to a strong team. This position involves hands-on work related to construction materials testing and field observations at various construction sites.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Conduct field observations and testing during placement of construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and sprayed-on fireproofing.
• Perform laboratory testing on soil and concrete samples.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Minimum of four years of construction experience; relevant technical post-secondary education in engineering or geology can substitute for some experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills coupled with good organizational abilities.
• Basic mathematical competency.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Interest in outdoor work at construction sites.
• Physical capability to lift up to 60 pounds, navigate construction environments including trenches (following OSHA standards), climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions.

Additional Requirements

• Must successfully pass background checks potentially including criminal history, motor vehicle records, and credit checks.
• Must pass pre-employment screening procedures.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this role ranges from $20 to $30, with pay varying depending on location and other factors. Schnabel is committed to equitable and competitive pay practices across all offices.
