About the Opportunity

Fergbaker is expanding with a new bakery opening soon in picturesque Arrowtown, Otago, New Zealand. We seek skilled bakers to join our team and contribute to launching this newest location. Our bakery combines traditional artisan techniques with a high-volume production environment to deliver outstanding baked goods made from high-quality ingredients.

Role Responsibilities

• Prepare a diverse selection of bread items from scratch including sourdough, crusty baguettes, pretzels, burger buns, white and multigrain loaves, and specialty seasonal products.
• Mix, ferment, shape, and bake dough following established traditional baking methods.
• Maintain rigorous quality control throughout the baking process to ensure consistent standards.
• Operate efficiently within a busy production setting while adhering to strict food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness protocols.
• Enhance team culture by supporting colleagues and contributing to ongoing improvements.
• Occasionally work at Fergbaker’s preparation facilities located in Queenstown CBD.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum three years of professional baking experience in a commercial bakery.
• Deep passion for crafting high-quality bread products from the ground up.
• Capability to thrive in fast-paced production environments.
• Positive demeanor and strong team collaboration skills.
• Formal baking qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends according to a rotating roster.
• Reliable personal transportation to commute to Arrowtown bakery.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly pay between NZD 29 and 33, with potential for higher compensation based on exceptional experience and skills.
• Full-time role with a minimum of 30 hours weekly.
