Role Overview
The Estimator position is a full-time role based in Carrickmacross, combining onsite presence with flexible work-from-home options. Responsibilities focus on carefully examining project specifications and drawings to quantify necessary materials and labor and create precise cost estimates for both industrial ductwork and residential ventilation systems. Daily tasks involve acquiring quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, maintaining and updating pricing databases, and preparing bids and tender documents within required deadlines.
The Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and installation teams to clarify project scope, evaluate risks, and assist with value engineering initiatives. Additional duties include participating in post-tender analysis, monitoring project expenditures compared to estimates, and contributing to refining estimating workflows and tools.
Key Qualifications
- Strong capability in quantitative analysis, cost estimation, and budgeting, with proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Experienced in utilizing spreadsheets and estimating software alongside digital documentation and project management platforms.
- Background knowledge of HVAC, ductwork, and ventilation systems for both industrial and residential applications; familiarity with NZEB or comparable standards is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams in a professional manner.
- Exceptional accuracy, keen attention to detail, and adept organizational skills necessary to handle multiple tenders and meet deadlines concurrently.
- Relevant technical or construction-related qualification such as mechanical engineering, quantity surveying, or building services, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Previous estimating experience in HVAC, mechanical, or construction sectors is preferred; strong motivation to develop expertise within the specialized ventilation sector is required.
- Capability to independently manage a hybrid working arrangement while demonstrating initiative, integrity, and commitment to safety and quality standards.
