About the Role
Runnymede Borough Council invites applications for the position of Estate Warden within the Estate Services Team, based in Addlestone, Surrey. This key role involves fostering clean, secure, and well-managed housing estates to ensure residents enjoy comfortable and safe communal living environments.
Responsibilities
- Keep communal spaces such as grounds, paths, bin stores, and estate surroundings clean, safe, and inviting.
- Deliver high-quality customer service by engaging constructively with residents and addressing estate-related queries and concerns.
- Identify and report maintenance issues promptly, ensuring timely repairs and upkeep.
- Monitor waste and recycling zones to guarantee proper use and cleanliness.
- Report antisocial behavior, vandalism, graffiti, and illegal dumping incidents.
- Coordinate with contractors, housing personnel, and external bodies to sustain and improve estate standards.
- Maintain precise records of inspections, incidents, and remedial steps taken.
- React appropriately to urgent estate situations in line with council policies.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a valid full UK driving license.
- Experience in cleaning or estate maintenance services.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety laws, including COSHH and safe working procedures.
- Awareness of data protection, confidentiality, and safeguarding vulnerable adults.
- Background in public interaction and supporting vulnerable residents.
- Organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
- Capable of performing manual work including manual handling tasks.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Positive, adaptive, and customer-oriented mindset.

Additional Information
The council is reviewing pay and grading, with new salaries for this role anticipated between £27,528 and £30,089 per annum (RBC 2 grade) starting summer following the review. The current salary band is £25,040 - £25,791 annually. Runnymede Borough Council is set to merge into the new West Surrey Unitary Council from March 2027, providing broader career prospects and more streamlined local government services.
