Epic Application Analyst

Role Overview

This contract position, based in New York, NY with hybrid/remote flexibility, involves long-term engagement as an Epic Application Analyst responsible for ongoing evaluation, design, development, and implementation of enterprise clinical systems. The role requires translating extensive data into clear business requirements to guide clinical information system enhancements. Collaborating closely with business users, project managers, programmers, consultants, and IT leadership, the analyst helps optimize project scope, benefits, and risk management while managing stakeholder expectations.

Opportunities are available across multiple Epic modules including Inpatient Clinical Documentation, Stork OB, Inpatient Orders, Infection Control, Long Term Care/Rehabilitation, Beacon Oncology, OpTime Peri-Operative, Anesthesia, Radiant Radiology, Cupid Cardiology, Laboratory, Willow Pharmacy, ASAP Emergency Department, Care Management, EpicCare Ambulatory, MyChart, EpicCare Link, Kaleidoscope Ophthalmology, HOD, and HomeHealth.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business and clinical requirements, translating them into technical documents such as data models, flowcharts, and specifications.
• Engage with end users, stakeholders, and sponsors to assess and accurately capture business and clinical needs.
• Detail captured information encompassing data sources, user roles, interface needs, reporting requirements, and system administration.
• Specify external system interfaces, constraints, quality considerations, and other non-functional needs.
• Identify risks and ambiguities during requirements gathering and collaborate with project teams to devise solutions.
• Work alongside project managers to finalize requirements documentation per project timelines.
• Organize and facilitate meetings and workgroups ensuring necessary follow-up actions.
• Coordinate with software development and quality assurance teams to ensure requirements compliance and adherence to quality standards.
• Manage change controls for requirements baselines and produce supporting materials such as test plans, release notes, and user documentation.
• Oversee unit acceptance testing and deployment activities with other team leads.
• Provide user support, troubleshoot application issues, and deliver system training.
• Prepare and present project presentations effectively.
• Contribute to special projects as assigned.
• Mentor junior clinical business analysts and manage their work products.
• Assist in developing departmental training programs.
• Recommend and communicate strategies for process improvements.
• Lead and supervise junior analysts, consultants, and project team members, including interviewing candidates as needed.

Certification and Training

Specialty certifications from recognized programs related to the modules mentioned may count as partial experience towards requirements. The selected candidate will receive training as Epic certification is mandatory within the first six months to continue employment.

Educational Requirements

• Master’s or advanced clinical degree with at least one year of experience in gathering and documenting business, clinical, or functional requirements or clinical/healthcare administration.
• Or, Bachelor's degree with three years of applicable experience.
• Or a satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Clinical experience is preferred.
• Possession of Epic certification is advantageous.

Experience

Applicants should have between 1 to 3 years working experience with Epic EMR systems or similar clinical/business applications.
