About the Role and Company

Safety-Kleen, located in Delta, British Columbia, is seeking a motivated Entry Level Sales and Service Representative (SSR) to join their dedicated safety-focused team. This role is designed as a Driver in Training position where you will gain hands-on experience transporting hazardous and regulated waste using various vehicle types including box trucks, tankers, vans, and roll-off dump trucks. The position requires adherence to Transport Canada and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations to ensure safe movement of waste between customer locations, company sites, and authorized disposal facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire knowledge and skills to transport hazardous waste safely in full compliance with Transport Canada and TDG guidelines.
  • Learn proper procedures for loading and unloading hazardous and non-hazardous waste, including appropriate segregation and secure placement of materials such as drums.
  • Ensure company equipment is used efficiently and that weight regulations are closely observed.
  • Manage the transfer of materials, equipment, kits, and supplies essential for smooth operations within production or assembly areas.
  • Physically move materials to assembly stations, maintain bench stock, handle finished assemblies, and facilitate movement between different work zones or cost centers.
  • Maintain and verify stock records, logs, shortage reports, and other relevant documentation.
  • Use small hand tools and operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet handlers, skids, and hand trucks.
  • Learn the correct methods for placarding vehicles to meet company standards and regulatory requirements by Transport Canada and TDG.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, worksheets, timecards, expense reports, dispatch and trip records, as well as vehicle inspection documentation.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license with reliable transportation; a Class 3 license is highly advantageous.
  • Clean driving record is mandatory.
  • Prior experience in an industrial warehouse environment with inventory handling.
  • Experience operating forklifts is highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective customer interaction.
  • Experience with vacuum truck operation is considered a valuable asset.
  • Background in hazardous waste management or environmental services industry is advantageous.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a physically intensive role combined with customer sales duties.
  • Proficiency with computers and basic software applications is required.
