Job Summary
The Engineering Manager role at Fairmont Agra entails managing the maintenance, repair, and overall efficient operation of all engineering systems and equipment within the hotel premises. This role is key to ensuring guest comfort, safety compliance, and seamless property operations through preventive maintenance and effective team leadership.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the hotel’s engineering and maintenance staff.
- Supervise daily functional activities across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, fire safety, and related technical systems.
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs covering all facilities and equipment.
- Maintain uninterrupted operations across guest rooms, kitchens, laundry, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
- Monitor and optimize energy use through cost-saving measures.
- Ensure compliance with local safety protocols, environmental regulations, and hotel policies.
- Manage vendor and contractor coordination for repairs and project work.
- Conduct periodic inspections of building systems, utilities, and equipment.
- Oversee budgeting, inventory management, and maintenance record keeping for engineering operations.
- Respond swiftly to emergency system failures and technical problems.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation on maintenance, equipment history, and safety checks.
- Support initiatives related to hotel renovations, refurbishments, and engineering enhancements.
- Provide training and development opportunities to engineering personnel on technical skills, safety standards, and hotel procedures.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- At least 7 to 10 years of experience in hotel engineering, facilities management, or related roles in hospitality or large commercial properties.
- In-depth technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, diesel generators, fire safety, and building management systems.
- Proven capability to lead and manage maintenance teams within hotels or large commercial environments.
- Skilled in planning and implementing preventive maintenance schedules.
- Comprehensive understanding of local safety regulations and environmental compliance.
- Experienced in managing budgets, controlling costs, and overseeing inventory for engineering departments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly respond to critical system failures.
