Job Overview
We seek an experienced Industrial Automation Engineer proficient in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming, testing, and commissioning, especially within Water & Wastewater, HVAC, and Oil & Gas sectors. The role demands autonomy in task execution, effective management, exemplary customer service, and a strong commitment to professional development.
Key Duties
- Create and implement PLC programs and comprehensive test plans to assure automation system reliability and functionality.
- Design SCADA and HMI graphical interfaces and deploy automation solutions tailored to client needs.
- Carry out pre-commissioning tasks including verification of cable terminations and loop checks.
- Perform field testing, system commissioning, and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) at client locations.
- Maintain detailed project documentation such as functional specifications, I/O listings, and architectural diagrams.
- Ensure software versions, programming tools, and backups are properly maintained.
- Offer technical assistance, troubleshoot issues, and conduct root cause analysis for automation systems.
- Interpret task requirements and apply relevant technical knowledge for solution delivery.
- Handle moderately complex to highly complex tasks according to established procedures and standards.
- Document all procedures, results, causes of issues, and suggested improvements thoroughly.
- Collaborate closely with Sales and Project teams to align client requirements with automation solutions.
- Exhibit perseverance, meticulousness, robust organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal communication.
QHSE Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to QHSE policies and participate actively in all related meetings and training sessions.
- Identify, report, and, where possible, correct unsafe conditions within your work scope.
- Follow QHSE officers' guidance and appropriately use personal protective and emergency equipment.
- Promote and support a safe working environment through collaborative safety efforts.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- Technical diploma or graduation in Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Automation, or related engineering fields.
- Minimum 5-6 years' practical experience with Rockwell systems (such as Micro 850, Control Logix, Compact Logix, Studio 5000, Factory Talk View SE) preferably in process industries like Water & Wastewater, HVAC, and Oil & Gas.
- Overall 8 years' experience in project engineering roles involving automation solutions.
- Prior roles as Application Engineer or Testing & Commissioning Engineer are advantageous.
Technical Skills and Competencies
- Expertise in PLC programming languages including Ladder Logic, Functional Block Diagram, and Structural Text.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols: Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP.
- Experience with data logging platforms such as Historian and SQL servers.
- Understanding of PLC redundancy setups and SCADA server/client configuration.
- Capability in generating reports from Historian server data.
- Proficient with reading and interpreting various engineering documents including P&ID, Cause & Effect diagrams, Functional Design Specifications, Project and Quality Control Specifications, ILD, MST, Systems Architecture, and manuals.
- Strong command of MS Office and internet research skills.
- Technical familiarity with network infrastructure components, including switches and fiber optic cables.
- Ability to understand scripting and programming languages like VB scripting and SQL.
