Role Overview
The District Cooling Engineer is responsible for supporting the advancement, maintenance, and continuous update of regulations, operational codes, and standards related to district cooling within the energy sector. This role requires comprehensive technical understanding of the design and operational functions of district cooling plants to aid in regulatory compliance, alongside performing technical evaluations and conducting inspections to ensure adherence to established standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the performance and enhancement of district cooling transmission and distribution codes.
- Serve as a representative of the Department of Energy at relevant industry forums when required.
- Offer expert technical guidance and recommendations on diverse district cooling issues.
- Evaluate all district cooling elements within the strategic planning statements of production, transmission, and distribution entities.
- Track key performance indicators and management reporting structures concerning district cooling production, transmission, and distribution operations.
- Perform audits and on-site assessments to verify compliance with applicable regulations and technical standards.
- Engage collaboratively with the Department of Health, Safety, and Environment to address health, safety, and environmental aspects related to licensing.
- Contribute to reviewing annual performance reports for district cooling production companies and suggest improvements to optimize network performance.
- Support the review of various critical documentation including technical reports, regulations, codes, performance measures, and investigation findings.
- Conduct targeted research to underpin technical advice and recommendations pertaining to district cooling matters as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering or a related discipline is required.
- Possess at least 5 years of practical experience in both operational and design aspects of district cooling plants or the district cooling sector.
