About Stephens County Hospital
For over 85 years, Stephens County Hospital has served the community with committed, professional, and compassionate care. Located in the scenic foothills of Northeast Georgia, this 96-bed acute care hospital employs approximately 475 staff and is fully accredited by the Joint Commission.
Role Overview
The Diet Aide is primarily responsible for the assembly and serving of patient food trays, preparation of simple food items, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the food service areas. This role involves working on the patient tray line as well as supporting the cafeteria service.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up patient tray lines with cold foods and condiments.
- Prepare coffee and tea for both the tray line and cafeteria service.
- Operate in different positions on the tray line, including Starter and Runner roles.
- Prepare late patient trays and label between-meal nourishments accurately.
- Monitor and ensure appropriate food temperatures on serving lines.
- Line trays and bag flatware for efficient service.
- Ensure hot foods remain hot and cold foods cold during service.
- Assist with setting up salad and food bars and maintain their cleanliness.
- Stock cafeteria supplies such as napkins, cups, flatware, and condiments before and during meal times.
- Serve on the cafeteria line, clean tables, and refill condiment racks.
- Operate the cash register and balance the cash drawer.
- Deliver patient late trays and nourish patients or nursing units as needed.
- Deliver food and supplies to various hospital units, including the Doctor's Lounge.
- Follow a weekly cleaning schedule for food carts and kitchen areas, using germicidal solutions.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of storage areas with all food properly covered, labeled, and dated.
- Dispose of kitchen trash and perform floor cleaning duties when necessary.
- Wash, sanitize, and store trays, pots, pans, utensils, and equipment appropriately.
- Adhere to job procedures to ensure timely and complete execution of duties without overtime.

Physical and Environmental Demands
- Ability to work in a physically demanding and high-stress environment.
- Standing and walking up to 8 hours per shift.
- Occasional climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, pushing/pulling heavy loads (up to 100+ lbs with assistance), and lifting (20-50+ lbs).
- Good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, vision (near and far, color distinction), and hearing capabilities.
