Role Overview

The Data Strategy Consultant role entails providing senior advisory services within Fusion's Data Office, helping clients in pharma, biotech, and medtech sectors evolve data, AI, and technology initiatives into strategic advantages. This position balances strategic leadership in client engagements with hands-on guidance on technical approaches, governance, investment prioritization, and change management within regulated environments.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and articulate data, AI, and technology strategies that support client business goals.
• Facilitate and lead workshops, governance meetings, and high-level executive discussions from conception to follow-up.
• Create compelling business cases for data and AI investments with quantifiable impact.
• Design sustainable governance frameworks for data and AI initiatives.
• Advise clients on technology and platform choices without directly managing technical implementation.
• Communicate complex technical concepts into actionable insights using effective visual storytelling.
• Build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships, balancing multiple interests across departments.
• Mentor client teams and internal staff on structured problem solving and strategic communication techniques.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to structure and clarify ambiguous problems promptly.
• Proven experience leading senior stakeholder workshops to decision points.
• Competence in developing robust business cases that satisfy both financial and technical reviewers.
• Skilled at crafting polished executive-level presentations that independently support arguments.
• Fluency in discussing technical aspects with data architects and AI engineers without needing to perform technical build.
• Strong interpersonal skills balancing client rapport with constructive challenge.
• Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Data Science, or related discipline; MBA considered advantageous.
• 6-10+ years professional experience including at least 3 years with top-tier strategy consultancies or Big 4 strategy departments.
• Solid foundation in data, AI, or technology strategy including governance models.
• Experience in life sciences or regulated industries is a plus but not mandatory.
• Fluent German and English communication skills.
