Role Summary

The Data Scientist will be central to designing and managing the machine learning models that determine the optimal contact strategies for debt recovery. This includes deciding who to contact, when, through which channels, and how frequently—all within legal constraints. These models directly drive the AI agents' behaviors, profoundly influencing company strategy and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and take full ownership of contact strategies, optimizing timing, frequency, and communication channels (voice, WhatsApp, etc.) to maximize debt recovery within regulatory limits.
• Build predictive models to profile debtors, including propensity and uplift models, helping tailor communication scripts, offers, and channels to increase engagement and payment rates.
• Design, execute, and analyze experiments such as A/B tests and bandit algorithms on various parameters like timing and negotiation policy to continuously improve recovery performance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and commercial teams to translate model insights into actionable business solutions and improve key performance indicators.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a degree in mathematics, statistics, machine learning, computer science, or a related field.
• Strong mastery of probability and statistics, with expertise in experimental design and causal inference to ensure robust and valid findings.
• Deep understanding of AI with a commitment to quality control, ensuring automation is both effective and precise.
• Ability to quickly grasp domain-specific knowledge including data and regulatory environments related to collections, though prior fintech or collections experience is not mandatory.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience deploying machine learning models in production environments that have measurably impacted business metrics.
• Proficient in Python, capable of navigating and contributing to production codebases that integrate technologies like TypeScript, AWS, and PostgreSQL.
• In-depth knowledge of statistical methodologies for experimental validation, distinguishing genuine impacts from noise.
• Experienced in designing and interpreting live traffic experiments such as A/B testing and bandit frameworks.
• Skilled in translating complex model predictions into clear, defensible business decisions for stakeholders.
