Role Overview

We invite applications for a Data Scientist (d/f/m) to join our central Data Science team. Your work will focus on deploying data science and advanced machine learning models to solve complex business challenges notably related to search, ranking, recommendation systems, and personalization. We offer a flexible schedule that requires presence onsite one to two days per week or as necessary for critical product engagements.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead impactful projects incorporating data science and advanced ML algorithms to address business issues centered on search and personalization.
• Integrate Generative AI approaches including LLM-enhanced search, conversational interfaces, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and AI-generated content, assessing effects on user experience and platform value.
• Manage comprehensive end-to-end data science workflows from idea generation and prototyping to deployment, monitoring, and optimization for scalability.
• Conduct exploratory analyses on large and complex datasets to extract actionable insights supporting strategic decisions and user-centric solutions.
• Create and validate proof-of-concept features, communicating findings effectively to stakeholders with diverse technical backgrounds.
• Serve as liaison between technical teams and broader business units, ensuring clarity in communicating analytical methodologies and results.
• Collaborate intensively with product managers, UX designers, engineers, and fellow data scientists to align objectives and drive product development.
• Promote best practices and foster professional growth within the data science team.
• Keep abreast of emerging developments in data science, adopting innovative tools and techniques to enhance team capability.

Candidate Profile

• MSc or Ph.D. in statistics, computer science, economics, or related disciplines.
• Minimum two years of practical experience designing, training, and deploying ML models, ideally in marketplaces or tech environments.
• Hands-on expertise with Generative AI, particularly LLMs such as OpenAI, Gemini, Mistral, LLaMA, vector database technologies like Pinecone, Weaviate, BigQuery Vector Search, and RAG frameworks.
• Proficient in Python programming and adept with SQL and/or NoSQL database systems.
• Strong background in ML frameworks including TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn, along with familiarity with MLOps principles.
• Experience in deploying and managing machine learning solutions on cloud platforms, especially GCP or AWS.
• Ability to translate complex business challenges into data-driven approaches and communicate insights effectively with diverse audiences.
• Supportive of agile methodologies such as Kanban or Scrum, with a passion for product discovery and iterative delivery.
• Excellent command of English in both written and oral communication.
