About the Role
As a Data Developer II at Global Excel Management Inc., based in Windsor, Ontario, you will focus on designing and managing the company's data infrastructure. Your role will centre around employing cutting-edge data technologies and cloud platforms to build scalable data systems that support advanced analytics and data management. You will also play a key role in promoting best practices in data engineering and mentoring team members.
Daily Responsibilities
- Create, manage, and optimize modern data pipelines, warehouses, and data lakes utilizing Snowflake and Azure Data Services.
- Design data architectures using DBT for transformations and Azure Data Factory for orchestrating pipelines.
- Work closely with business and data teams to translate requirements into effective data models while adhering to governance and architectural standards.
- Leverage Azure native data services, including Azure Storage, to enhance data handling and scalability.
- Automate data quality measures with tools such as DBT tests.
- Apply data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain documentation like data dictionaries, lineage, and metadata processes.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to establish data standards, naming conventions, and classification protocols.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in computer engineering, mathematics, data science, or related fields.
- Professional experience ranging from four to six years in data-related roles.
- Proficient in relational and NoSQL databases, including MS SQL Server, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB.
- Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly Azure and its data services.
- Knowledge of data modeling and transformation with DBT.
- Familiarity with ETL tools like Azure Data Factory, Airflow, or Informatica.
- Understanding of APIs and data integration methods.
- Certifications in Azure Data Services or Snowflake are advantageous.
- Strong command of SQL and automation of data pipelines.
- Deep knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and security standards.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for cross-team interactions and driving consensus around best practices.
- Experience designing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud-based data architectures.
