Role Overview
The Data Analyst II within the Office of Data Analytics collaborates with Senior Data Analysts and business stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable data insights. This role requires a clear understanding of data flow across various business processes and systems, as well as the ability to leverage data to support organizational objectives. Candidates should possess both a strong technical data background and practical experience in business analysis.
Work Arrangement
This position offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. However, employees based in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. must work onsite at least four days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with business units and customers to comprehend their objectives and information needs.
- Identify and implement solutions to routine requests and challenges.
- Conduct moderately complex analyses and problem-solving tasks.
- Translate business concepts into practical applications.
- Ensure alignment between business needs and related functions such as data processing, technical design, report generation, training, and documentation.
- Support evaluation of network adequacy, accessibility, growth opportunities, and development initiatives aligned with Network Management strategies.
- Apply data modeling principles and analytics concepts, including querying, reporting, and data source association.
- Interpret business requirements into detailed data needs, including interfaces and transformations.
- Utilize standardized database templates for efficient data collection, monitoring, and reporting.
- Communicate effectively with managers and directors through presentations and written materials.
- Promote constructive dialogue by expressing independent viewpoints respectfully.
- Create work products using standard office software (e.g., Visio, Word, Excel).
Qualifications
- At least 4 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or reporting, working extensively with large or complex datasets.
- Minimum 4 years of proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, validation, and optimization from various sources.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, seeking guidance only on complex issues.
- Preferred: Over 2 years of experience with Python programming.
- Preferred: Over 2 years working with Power BI or Tableau for data visualization.
- Preferred: Experience collaborating on data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and scalable reporting solutions with knowledge of data engineering concepts.
- Knowledge of healthcare industry dynamics and provider networks is advantageous.
- Remote employees must comply with UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this role is $72,800 to $130,000, subject to factors such as location, education, experience, and certifications. Benefits include a comprehensive package featuring incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase plans, and 401(k) contributions, contingent on eligibility.
